Memorial Day at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery

Memorial Day: A day to celebrate the lives of those who served and died for our country…and a good opportunity to take pictures. I wanted to go to one of the events that were being held around the city, but alas, I had to work since it was my first day back from vacation. So, that evening, my dad and I went out to Zachary Taylor to take pictures of all the flags on the graves. A quick scan of the pictures will show that there are no people in them, aside from the people walking in one of them. I was prepared to go up to someone and ask who they were there to remember, however there really wasn’t anybody there. There were two families with little kids there, but they were having a playtime/get together thing…kinda odd for a cemetery I thought but whatever floats your boat. Anywho, I know that I need to continue to improve my in person communication skills (aka going up to people and asking if I can take their picture, especially in awkward situations) and I will. I will.

Anyways, hope you like the pictures. Comments appreciated as always!

Presentation vs. Holy Cross

One of the first things I have wanted to do since I got my long lens is go to a Pres softball game, my alma mater.  I played second base for the team when I was in high school, and I wanted to go back and take some pictures.  Unfortunately, I can’t exactly say that this was my best work.  I was looking through all of the photos I took again last night, and I wish I could have gone back and re-taken almost all of them.  Here are the highlights:

#11 Senior second baseman Rachel Fox

#14 Senior first baseman Addie White

Junior shortstop Chrisanna Roberts

#12 Senior center fielder Cynthia Brown

An update on Kristin’s life…

Sorry folks for taking so long to update my site.  I know that it has been a while since there have been new pictures or really any word on what is going on in my life and for that I apologize (but hey, at least I warned you ahead of time!).

My family and Greg’s family just got back last week from our cruise, and now it is back to the daily grind of “Group Sales, this is Kristin.”  Unfortunately, I have been a failure with taking pictures since I have been home from school, but while I was sitting on the cruise ship and on the plane, I have vowed to make much more of an effort.  This is what I want to do with my life, so I better use that as my motivation and get out there!

So what HAVE I been taking pictures of?  Well, before the cruise, I went to a softball game (Presentation, my alma mater, vs. Holy Cross) and to Six Flags on an off-day and shot pictures of people on rides.  I have been told by my boss that if I get some good stuff, they may be able to use it for promotional materials.  However, I did have to get a photo release form for people to sign that I take pictures of up close, so that makes it just a little more complicated in getting people to let me take pictures of them.

Since the cruise, I went to Zachary Taylor National Cemetery on Memorial Day to shoot, and I took pictures of Greg’s show over in Jeffersonville, where I have also been helping him with painting and other set work.  The lady in charge of the show wants to sell some of the photos to the kids in the show (they are doing High School Musical), so I have to figure out how to get those prints made and how much to charge for them.  If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

That’s all for now!
