Chelsea Clinton Comes to UK
I really have to thank Greg (and Ed) for this one. Initially, when Ed called me about this assignment, I turned it down because I had class during that time. When I hung up, Greg told me that I needed to call him back immediately and tell him that I would shoot it because this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I took his advice, and I found myself standing on a mini stage in the Cat’s Den next to Christina, Mark Cornelison from the Lexington Herald-Leader and a number of television cameras from the local stations. I have to admit, it was really exciting!!
However, the excitement wained a little when Chelsea actually arrived and started answering questions. Her responses weren’t really boring or anything like that, I was just a little disappointed with the questions that were asked by the audience. Questions ranged from mountain top removal (an important local issue) to No Child Left Behind to campaign reform (eh…). The only truly student-related question came at the tail-end of the session, a question from a UK student about student loans. Overall, this was a great experience, and I hope that it will lead to even more exciting events to come in my career!
