England Part I
What you have all been waiting for… Spring Break in England pictures!!! Sorry for the wait, but things have been really hectic lately… actually they still are, but I really wanted to get these up here. I will go back and caption later, but right now I simply don’t have the time.
Please keep in mind that I was on this trip with three of my friends (and my friend’s dad), so I didn’t get to wait for anything to develop! Many of the pictures featured were taken on the first and only try. During the photo meeting last week, Jim, Wes and I discussed some things that I could have done better had I had the time, and I definitely learned a lot from their feedback.
I have also decided to split the photos up into two posts. For one, it will hopefully make them a little easier to look at. And I want to build some anticipation. Make you wanting more. (haha)
PLEASE PLEASE COMMENT!!!
Unassigned Feature-Hunting
It was such a nice day on Thursday that I decided to do some unassigned feature-hunting. I didn’t think they would need the photos since UK played their NCAA tournament game that day, but I figured if I got some good ideas when it was nice outside, it would be easier for me to find them again when the weather was bad and I didn’t necessarily want to be out in it as long.

This photo below is my latest attempt to get a good silhouette of someone on the bridge to the parking garage. I like this one better than the first successful try, although I did like the sunset in the first one…Sunset/Ramp I like the sun coming through the tree on the left, but I wish there were some pretty clouds in the sky.

Commitments for Fall ‘08
I’m getting stressed out and feeling stretched thin… and I haven’t even committed to anything yet!
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been trying to prepare for a future career by signing up for some leadership/experiential roles. However, now I am just confused and don’t really know what I am doing.
On Monday, I interviewed at The University Press of Kentucky, which is the largest book press in the state and located on South Limestone. Besides photojournalism, book publishing is the other career I have been considering lately, so I interviewed for an internship position. There is one paid position that may be available for journalism majors (and a couple others I can’t remember right now), but besides that, the rest are unpaid. I got the impression that if they had spots open, which he believed there would be, I would get it.
Then, on Tuesday night, Kelli asked me if I would be interested in being a co-editor for the yearbook with Allie. Another huge commitment. I don’t know if I am qualified to do it or not, but I am definitely interested in that position as well. I have not talked to Kelli in length about the position, but I may be doing that this evening.
In an ideal situation, I could do both. The internship is about 10 hours per week, which is roughly another class. Next semester, I will have 15 hours instead of the 18 I have had the last two semesters, so that may not be too bad. It kind of depends on whether or not I will have extra work that I have to take home with me. Now, the yearbook. That will take up some time! Autumn is currently the editor by herself, and she is here ALL THE TIME! Maybe it won’t be so bad with two of us doing the job, but I’m not sure about that…
The Indicators
Last night, Emily and I went to the Cat’s Den to cover The Indicators, a comedy improv group from the University of Louisville. Ross Duncliffe, who I think started Comedy Caravan when he was at UK, was the opening act. This picture almost made it into the Kernel today, but as the secondary picture, it got cut because of lack of space. However, it is still the property of the Kernel, so don’t take it.
The Indicators were great! Ed called about half way through the show to tell us to come back to the Kernel, but we didn’t want to leave! I hope they come back to UK soon because I will definitely make a point to come.

Bowling Green Workshop
So I realized that I haven’t posted any pictures from the Bowling Green workshop. So I decided that I would leave you for Spring Break with these to browse through. Comments are always appreciated!

AFTERdark
Singer/musician Dave Barnes and rapper Tedashii performed Monday night at the Singletary Center as a part of AFTERdark: One night. One campus. One movement. AFTERdark combines a concert by various Christian artists and a presentation by Joe White, founder of Kanakuk Haiti, which operates 19 schools and an orphanage in Haiti. More than 150,000 college students from across the country have attended the AFTERdark events. In one night, they aim to convey their message of hope and make an impact at each campus they visit.

Crazy Kentucky Weather
What a difference a day makes! On Monday, it seemed like spring had finally come to save us from the depths of winter. Then Tuesday came along with storm clouds. Now I hear we may be getting snow in the double digits on Friday! Geez…
Here are two of my photos of students playing ultimate frisbee on Stoll Field. Once it gets warm for good, I definitely want to go back and try again.

Here are some of my rain pictures. Initially, my assignment was to work on my standalone of the overpass by the parking garage. However, after spending some time there, I abandoned the project for the day and shot colorful rain boots instead.

Sunday in the Park
Before watching the UK game on television, Greg and I went downtown to the park across from the court house to see who was out spending their Sunday morning there. There, we found James and Richel Whitley and their dog Pippy. Pippy is a three-year-old Australian Red Heeler and an up-and-coming frisbee player.
Mary Kay Party
I was coming into my dorm Thursday night and saw some girls putting makeup on in the lobby. Curious, I put my stuff down in my room, grabbed my camera and shot a few frames of the Mary Kay party. Not my best stuff, but hey, it’s more practice!
